Home Again. | 07.01.10 | Share With... Montauk
.................................................................................................................................................................................
A fun little show in a great town. In the next couple of days we'll be setting up an installation for Joelle and her great shop right in the center of town at the far east end of Long Island. The shop is called, Share With... Montauk, its a great little store that sells clothes made using recycled material and fabrics bought thru fair trade. We had our first show there last year and it felt so right we're doing it again. We'll be there all month with some great artwork by Chris Pfeil, Ed Fladung, Mike Perry, Mikey DeTemple, Paul Gallegos, Paul D'Elia, Stephanie Hosmer, Steven Harrington, Justin Krietemeyer, Kassia Meador, Ryan Tatar, Scott Massey and more... Signed copies of RRR.001 will be there all month, but if you're out there on the 10th we'll have some Sangria, some nice food, and some fun. Join us..

Pool of Thought. Feeling helpless, hopeless or just out right pissed about the spill in the Gulf, head on over to the post family and let loose. They've recently started an online gallery with the hopes that you'll contribute your best, brightest, or most profound statements on the environmental disaster. My submission has been haunting me for the past few days & I finally let the pour bastard out into the wild. If you've ever stepped on a tar ball (I have & it sucks!!!) try to imagine what it would be like to be covered head to toe. Even if your slammed with work or not sure how to help, check out the gallery and contribute.

Hints For a Better Living 2. Mike is an excellent designer, creative thinker, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Lucky for us, he also loves to share. In his latest stop motion video he used found objects to show us how to pick up the slack and live better, I needed it! Can't wait to start working with Mike on the next RRR book and upcoming shows. So sorry WM! Unfortunately one of the mistakes in RRR.001 was an accidental misplacement of WM's information in the contributors section. WM = William Morrisey! A great friend, image maker, teacher & designer from NY. He has some amazing hand drawn designs, silkscreens and has worked on a couple logos that you see everyday. Check out his site, www.wmwmwm.com and think about him every time you watch the Bravo network or book a flight on Orbitz.

Really psyched to have some of Ryan's work in the RRR.001 zine and also shows. A lot of really great work coming from him these days, his photos are full of color and texture that you'll only get from the analog process. Also helps to have a great eye and be in the right spots at the right time. Check out more of his work at www.ryantatar.com and his rad blog at shakasandsinglefins.

RRRECOVERED PINE | 09.28.09 |
.................................................................................................................................................................................
A year ago our friends Julie Goldstein & Mark Tesi had a horrible fire destroy their surfshop called Pine. I was given the OK to go inside and check out what used to be a really eclectic shop filled with old and new surfboards, skateboards and decorated with artwork from friends and local artists. The place seemed like it would have been a monthly destination for me if I still lived in NY or was lucky enough to hear about it before the fire. Above is a photo by local photographer and friend Chris Pfeil that was one of few pieces in Pine that was spared by the fire.

.................................................................................................................................................................................
Second stop, off to BURRRLINGTON (pretty soon I will get bored of repeating R's). One of the key parts to getting RRR going was Jonathan Sandridge, not only did he help me contact and recruit people for submissions but he also helped lay the zine out and posted the pdf. A trip up to see him and his group of friends in Vermont was definitely in order. Under the name Church, the four of us sat in their studio after dinner to make collages and talk. The pieces are honest, funny and telling of the time. More great things to come from them, I'm sure. Church is Jonathan Sandridge, Chris Partelow, & Deke Smith.

..................................................................................................................................................................................
First stop on the FRRRIENDS & FAMILY TOUR A week before the books came back from the printer, I returned to the East Coast with handmade copies of RRR and a portfolio full of prints. First stop was to Brooklyn, to meet with Mike Perry & Anna Wolf. Mike was confidant in the RRR project enough to co–publish the first issue and what better way to say thank you then to drop off prints and talked about things to come. The image above is just a little glimpse of some of the scraps I was given from Mike's flat file, can't walk around Brooklyn with an empty portfolio bag now can we.

Hopefully a little more collaborative then the last RRR, we're aiming to get everyone into the mix to make one really nice piece. Work in progress, but already off to a good start. Below are two silkscreens from studio sessions with Paul D'Elia (L) and Brookes Reeder (R). A mini zine named fnd.001 can also be found & here, this is the first part of RRR.002. RRR.001 EZINE |04.22.09|
.................................................................................................................................................................................
The project began when we sent out a free downloadable ezine to our friends and family for Earth Day With art submitted by a great group of friends we sent out emails containing a link to the ezine. Artists were given a little less than two weeks to find or make work that concentrated on environmental issues. The designers were given a little less than a day each for layout. We believe in less talk more action.
